In the Cayman GT4, every element is focused around one thing: performance. The striking front spoiler lip and central air intake in the front apron help the GT4 effortlessly slice through the air. At the back, the fixed wing generates 122kg of downforce. The 20” wheels are available in a range of finishes and come with red brake callipers as standard. Hinting at its potency, the GT4 logo is displayed on every angle of the vehicle. Inside, the stripped-back interior is inspired by motorsport. As standard, the sports seats come with raised side bolsters and a Race-Tex centre, and the GT sports steering wheel is also finished in Race-Tex for a firm grip. The GT4 logo on the headrests, decorative stitching, and door pull loops are finished in silver, or you can choose between red or yellow. For the full racing experience, you can opt for bucket seats with a carbon-weave finish.
PERFORMANCE
The Cayman GT4 is a racing car that’s been designed with the road in mind. It’s more comfortable to drive than before, but somehow has even more of an edge. The flat-six 4.0-litre engine uses a 6-speed manual gearbox (although PDK is available), producing 414bhp and 420Nm of torque, with a top speed of 189mph. It makes the 0 – 62mph sprint in just 4.4 seconds and the sports exhaust erupts with a powerful roar when you put your foot down. Porsche has fine-tuned the engine and chassis in the GT4: Porsche Torque vectoring further improves driving dynamics, assisted by the rear diffuser which creates 40% more downforce on the rear axle than the previous model. You can choose from two settings in the Porsche Active Suspension Management system – Normal and Sport – depending on how you want the car to behave.
TECHNOLOGY
Infotainment is the last thing on your mind in the GT4, but Porsche has kitted it out with Porsche Communication Management and a 7” touchscreen display in the centre console for sat-nav and Apple CarPlay functions. But you can also opt for no audio and communication system if you want to reserve your GT4 for only the purest of driving experiences. If you plan on hitting up a racetrack, you can add the Chrono Package which stores, displays, and evaluates your lap times. The Porsche Track Precision app also allows you to access this information on your smartphone, alongside the traditional Porsche Connect app.
SAFETY
The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 has a full suite of safety aids, including Porsche Stability Management, anti-lock braking system, Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control. The composite brake discs provide incredible stopping power to match the car’s output, no matter the weather. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes are optionally available, coming in yellow as standard or high gloss black. The Clubsport package provides additional protection for the driver, comprising a steel roll cage behind the front seats, a six-point racing harness, and an on-board fire extinguisher.
