The Carrera GTS comes with model-specific styling tweaks for an even sportier appearance, including tweaked SportDesign bumpers and an array of sleek black styling elements – from the model badges to bumper trims. Porsche has given the GTS a slick looking interior with a number of model-exclusive features, such as the GT sports steering wheel and GTS logo embroidered on the seats’ headrests. It also comes with the Race-Tex interior package as standard, with the seat centres, steering wheel, door handles, door panel armrests, and gearshift lever all finished in Race-Tex. Optional extras include 20/21” RS Spyder Design wheels, full bucket seats, and the GTS interior package which offers extended leather and decorative stitching in Carmine Red or Crayon.
PERFORMANCE
The rear-wheel drive GTS uses the same 3.0-litre turbocharged flat-six engine found in the Carrera S, but it’s been boosted up to 480hp (compared to the S model’s 443hp) – edging it ever closer to the 500hp mark. So it comes as no surprise that it can rocket from 0 – 62mph in as little as 3.2 seconds with 570Nm of torque and a top speed of 193mph. Accompanying this power is a host of chassis upgrades. An 8-speed PDK gearbox with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus comes as standard but you can also opt for a seven-speed manual gearbox for an even purer experience. The regular Carrera’s sound-deadening has also been removed for a captivating roar, whilst the sports suspension lowers the ride height by 10mm. For even more performance focus, the lightweight package shaves 25kg off the car’s weight by using lightweight glass and getting rid of the backseats.
TECHNOLOGY
Whilst the GTS comes with an impressive tech line-up, Porsche has been careful to maintain the 911’s authentic sportscar feel. The tech chosen is designed to make every day driving a breeze without taking away from the thrill that comes with driving a Porsche 911. Infotainment-related technology includes Porsche Communication Management (PCM), real-time sat nav, and smartphone integration, all shown on the 10.9” central display. The instrument cluster is made up of two 7” high-res displays alongside a central analogue rev counter, and the Sports Chrono package is included as standard, which gives you a mode switch on the steering wheel to quickly choose between driving modes.
SAFETY
Porsche Stability Management acts as a safety blanket when pushing the limits of dynamic driving performance in the Carrera GTS. Other active safety features include larger brake discs: 408mm at the front and 380mm at the rear. Aluminium monobloc fixed red brake calipers are fitted – six-piston at the front and four-piston at the rear – resulting in more braking power. To improve visibility, the Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus optimises lighting on bending and turning roads. Standard driving assistance systems include Warn and Brake Assist, ParkAssist front and rear, and cruise control.
