DESIGN

The Panamera has a hint of Porsche 911 DNA in its shallow bonnet line, prominent front wings and athletic proportions. In the latest generation those qualities have been subtly accentuated. Up front, active air intake flaps feed fresh air to the drive systems and the headlamps feature Porsche’s signature four-point daytime running lamps. The profile is smoother and sportier, while the outer edges of the rear window are now flush with the body’s contours. The Turbo E-Hybrid is distinguished from the rest of the range by a rear apron with painted diffuser panels and a unique front apron in body colour. Turbonite, a unique shade for this model, is used as for the side window strips and the Turbo logo on the tailgate as well as in the interior trim and instrumentation.

PERFORMANCE

For 2024 the Panamera Turbo performance flagship gains plug-in hybrid assistance. Porsche’s advanced 519 PS 4.0-litre V8 bi-turbo engine is now augmented by a powerful electric motor that’s neatly integrated in the 8-speed PDK transmission. Collectively, petrol and electric power develop 680 metric horsepower and 930 Newton metres of torque. Performance is sensational; the 0-62mph sprint takes just 3.2 seconds and top speed is 195 mph. Just as impressive in its own way is the EV-only range; the 25.9 kW/h battery can power the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid for up to 56 miles, making zero-emission city commutes easily attainable (and delivering combined CO2 emissions of 38–26 g/km). All Panamera models now feature a new adaptive air suspension system with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). A 4-way rear spoiler, unique to the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, splits after deploying, increasing its width and providing extra downforce.

TECHNOLOGY

Porsche’s interior design strikes a balance between touchscreen and analogue switchgear. For example, the gear selector lever is directly to the right of the steering wheel, while the mode switch for Normal, Sport and Sport Plus driving programmes, and the assistance control stalks, can easily be accessed without the need to take eyes off the road. For the infotainment system, the driver simply logs in via a QR code on the screen to link smartphone and vehicle data. Functions such as air conditioning, seat massage and ambient lighting can be controlled directly via voice assistant. As a range flagship, the new-generation Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid also comes with HD Matrix LED headlamps and a 14 speaker, 710 Watt BOSE® Surround Sound System.

SAFETY

Porsche has significantly upgraded the assistance systems in the new Panamera, with an updated active speed assistant that now interacts with traffic sign recognition. Porsche InnoDrive adaptive cruise control features active lane guidance and junction assist, as well as a swerve assistant function. You can even park the new Panamera remotely with the Remote Park Assist function, ideal when parking in narrow parking slots.
